*  About Me:  I reside in Portland, Oregon, was born in Spokane, WA, and grew up in the region of Seattle.  After high school I went to Bellevue Community College and Washington State University.  My interest in photography started with a Kodak Instamatic in grade school, then moved on to a Nikon FE 35mm film camera in High School.  I took a couple of B&W darkroom classes in high school and college.  Out of school my interest in photography grew as I began travelling the world and hiking in the Pacific Northwest.  The art of photography is an endless challenge, and an amazing art form to communicate and express one's self.  Photography to me is the discovery of the outside world melding with the discovery of one's own inner world, finding clarity in complexity, and expressing your experience through a visual art form.  Now in the modern digital era sharing that experience anywhere at any time is amazing.  I hope you enjoy your visit.  Thanks to all who have been supportive.   Sincerely, Gordon Wildman

*  About the Images:  There is no cropping done to any of the images and all black and white images have been shot in camera.  The images go through minor adjustments such as sharpening, some minor tweaks to contrast, brightness, and saturation, before being added to the site.  Any dust that may appear is removed.  And that is about all.  I shoot exposures and compositions to be as close to what I am trying to achieve in camera so as little time as possible is spent working on an image at the computer.  The only software manipulation that changes the image significantly that I occasionally enjoy is sepia toning in the Sepia gallery.  The experimental gallery is all done in camera as well.  How a digital camera or scanner effects an image and the processes that you need to achieve what is best for your image in each area that you present your photo's in, is an ever lasting challenge.

*  Tips on using the website:  The Cooliris image viewer is a 3d wall of my images that presents a unique way to view slide shows or single images.  Just click on an image to begin, or put on some tunes and watch it as a slide show - try it full screen for full effect.    All of the links to navigate your way around can be found at the top of the website on every page.  A drop down menu has all the links to each of the galleries, and information pages.  All of the links are pretty much alphabetical from top to bottom in each category.  Gordon Wildman Photography - at the top of every page is a link to the home page.

*  Website Update:   I have moved from FrontPage 2000 to Expression Web 2.0 as of Dec. 2008.  It's another learning experience using Dynamic Web Templates, CSS, layers, etc.  This website is, has, and will be a work in progress.  Having no training in web design, the process has been a learning experience. The changes are a continual process.  Over time the look has been refined, and the photographs enlarged as more people have access to broadband.  Many new photographs have been added and more will be added more often in the future. The galleries are now accessible at the top of every page.  Hopefully progress is being made as the journey continues.  There are over 1200+ images on this site, of which, around 96% are digital and have been taken in approximately the past four years.  YouTube High Definition slide shows, a Cooliris gallery, "how to", and historical photography videos have also been added.  New navigation has been added now as well to move easily between each information category, each gallery, and each individual image.

*  Website Settings:   To view this site at it's optimum, set your display setting at it's highest resolution.  A font setting of medium to large is recommended . If you want to change your settings go to your control panel and click on display, or right click on your desktop screen and click on personalize or properties, and then the display settings tab if you want to change your display characteristics.   Font settings can be controlled with-in your browser settings.

*  Website Comment:   The images on this website are a  representation of the final image.   Keeping file sizes manageable and showing a quality representation of your image poses challenges.   Also, everybody has a different computer each with different screen sizes, different settings, different colors, different contrast, different resolution settings, different font sizes, each computer has different download speeds, computing speeds, etc.  Also websites need to work with mobile devices such as the Iphone, as well.  All these things effect how the images look and how well the website functions.   It is often surprising to see the differences there are from computer to computer.  The images and the website are configured to work well with as many differences as possible.
